A Dresser & Pet Enclosure
This unit was made for a medium sized rescue dog who is super shy, but friendly when he gets to know you. When his owners leave the house, he lands on everything he can, be he'd never jump on anything when they're around. Also, he's an aggressive chewer, just loves jumping and chomping! Time and time again, he's shown that he can't be trusted alone and his owners had to put him in his travel kennel while they were out of the house. They got rid of their dresser and put the kennel in their bedroom because they couldn't fit both units. The owners would come home throughout the work day to check on him and make sure he's comfortable because lockdown really isn't fun, especially for a dog that size.
We came up with a plan. *Combine a dresser and a suitable enclosure into one unit. The owners could have their required storage, and the pet wouldn't have to clam up into a little kennel anymore.
The pet enclosure is the base of the unit and this one allows for a 35"x50" play area with a height of 30" so this dog could stand tall but short enough the dog wouldn't jump in the unit. When not expanded, the enclosure closes flush with the dresser unit. Two doors at the front of the enclosure open fully for ease of access, we got in with the dog to get him comfortable with the space. The expansion is also detachable for ease of access, maintenance and in case the unit is moved around the home it can be lightened.
The dresser part of the unit has four drawers, each 20"x20" with a 75lb weight capacity. The top of the unit could hold a tv or few! its strength is important, because it is also a house for an animal.
